GLENBURN SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT

To clarify misunderstandings regarding moving ahead with a building project after the failed vote for a $4.5 million building project, the Board of Education would like to offer the following points to address patrons’ questions:

1.) After the vote of the patrons failed for the $4.5 million building project: The Board approved an alternate building project that will use the existing 20 mill levy (established in 1992 for building projects) to finance the estimated project cost of $3 million. Therefore, this alternate building project will not increase taxes for the patron.

2.) The District is taking out a low interest loan through the State: This will be paid back by the existing 20 mills that was used for the new gymnasium project from 1992, this is now available in the schools capital building fund.

3.) Alternate plan vs original plan: The original plan that was brought to a vote by the patrons was downsized resulting in less new construction with an end result of less cost. The alternate plan will add 4 classrooms, music room (additional 1304 sq. feet than existing music room), and central main entrance and office. A fire sprinkler system throughout the school will also be added as mandated by building code.

Do not hesitate to contact the Superintendent’s office at 362-7426 with any additional questions you may have.
